The design strategy maintains the open floor plates by clustering hotel rooms around preserved structural elements, creating varied room layouts that feel more like urban lofts than traditional hotel rooms. New elements, including a rooftop addition and central lightwell, are clearly distinguished from historic fabric through material and detail choices. The ground floor lobby and restaurant occupy the original loading dock area.
