Located in a flood-prone neighborhood, the Waterfront Community Center was designed with dual purposes: serving daily community needs while functioning as an emergency shelter during extreme weather events. The 18,000 sq ft building elevates key programs above flood levels while maintaining accessibility and creating strong connections to the waterfront park.
The design places flood-resilient programs like storage and mechanical systems at ground level, with community spaces elevated on the second floor. Large operable walls allow the gymnasium to open entirely to outdoor courts and the waterfront beyond. Sustainable features include solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and native landscape restoration that doubles as natural flood management.
A 24-story residential and commercial complex that integrates urban living with nature through cascading gardens and energy-efficient systems.
